How do you design a captivating space when faced with a narrow structure, a ceiling height of just 2.2 meters, and a width of only 5 meters for both seating and circulation? Instead of viewing these limitations as obstacles, could they become the very catalyst for innovation?
Our approach began with a single question: how can we turn these constraints into an immersive experience? The answer lay in embracing the challenge with visually dynamic elements that engage and surprise. Could the clever use of color and repetitive materials diminish the perception of confinement? We believed it could—and we brought this vision to life with a circular platform that transforms a simple path into a seamless journey, where the starting point elegantly meets the destination.
But how do you make such a journey memorable?
By weaving together design elements that invite exploration. As visitors traverse the space, they might not realize they’ve walked significant distances because the design plays with perception. Repeated materials on feature walls and unique carpets on opposing sides create a sense of rhythm and variation, subtly blurring the boundaries of distance. Could two carpets with similar yet distinct patterns captivate the eye enough to make time and space feel fluid? We think so.
Where does the inspiration come from?
Picture the ebb and flow of tidal waters on a tranquil seashore—gentle, rhythmic, and endlessly inviting. Could that same essence of movement and vitality breathe life into this space? Our design aims to do just that, transforming what could have been a limitation into an experience where every step feels like part of a story.
