Do you remember those airport seats with the metal bars — the ones that make sure you can’t lie down?
I believe many of us have had that experience. I once spent five hours half-asleep, half-awake in a transit zone that felt more like a punishment than part of a journey.
So, earlier this year, I shared an idea at the Aerotropolis conference in Hong Kong, as part of the “Airport as Destination” discussion — not just a design concept, but a simple question:
What if airport transit wasn’t something to endure — but something to enjoy?
That question led to what I believe could be an airport design game changer — a shift in how we think about movement, comfort, and experience.
I’ve turned that talk into a full story — Part 1 of the video on how airport design can evolve.
Please watch here:
Would love to hear your thoughts — especially from fellow designers, planners, and travelers.
Plus, this is just the beginning. Part 2 coming soon.
