T The   general   function   of   a   stair   is   about   helping   people   move   down and   up.   Because   of   its   inevitable   functional   need,   we   design   stairs   in a   technical   aspect   mostly   rather   than   designing   stair   by   means   of aesthetical   form,   speaking   of   which   it   hasn’t   been   further   developed deeply   integrated   into   architectural   elements.   Thus,   in   many   cases our   dedicated   work   toward   stair   is   limited   into   counting   numbers   of steps   and   riser   heights.   Beside   the   fact   mentioned   above,   it   is   quite lucky    to    have    a    chance    for    us    to    develop    a    stair    in    a    residential environment.   Now   we   deeply   start   to   design   the   sitar   with   the   idea from the form rather than function. A   Book   is   combined   papers   by   its   form.   Each   layer   is   fixed   into   one side    and    the    other    side    is    open    end.    When    the    book    is    bent    90 degree,   it   creates   natural   steps   at   open   end,   as   if   it   would   be   possible to    be    designed    into    stair    steps.    By    this    initial    ideas,    we    have developed   the   form   of   the   stair   that   we   call   ‘Reel   Stair”.   It   is   divided into   two   parts.   One   is   fixed   to   the   ceiling   structure.   The   other   to   the floor   slab.   By   its   bent   form,   we   have   come   up   with   wooden   panel   as an exterior material to be attached well to the structure frame. Mainly,   we   consider   the   three   vertical   metal   plate   cut   to   follow   the steps.   Those   plates   can   be   stabilized   by   metal   frames   connected   each other.   Finally   each   frame   will   support   the   form.   Hence,   we   believe   the form of stair is now created as to meet the functional need.
